Contributing to literary achievements in Oklahoma since 1914
State of Oklahoma Domestic Not for Profit Corporation
OCWI consists of writers experienced in all genres, published, getting published, or new to the literary arts. Each month, we invite speakers on different aspects of writing—publishing, marketing, submitting to agents, and the new world of publishing technology.
Since 1914, OCWI has contributed to literary achievement in Oklahoma and inspired the creative talent of its members. Today, we add to that desire and give fellow writers, of all ages and ability, a place to find support and companionship.
Guests are welcome. OCWI is an affiliate of the Oklahoma Writers' Federation, Inc. (OWFI).
Meetings are held on the third Saturday of each month
10:00 am to 11:30 am at St. Luke's United Methodist Church

Guest Speaker - Andrew C. Guthrie
October 15, 2025
Andrew Guthrie is a practicing pediatric dentist and an avid outdoorsman, born, raised, and currently residing in Oklahoma. His love of the outdoors naturally guides his photography, in which the majority of his subjects are wildlife and landscapes. When not taking photographs, he enjoys writing about his “conversations” with the birds, animals, and insects he encounters. Dr. Guthrie will present a walkthrough of how he melds his passion for photography with his lighthearted, whimsical, and thoughtful writing process to develop a narrative in a photography book. He will share a glimpse of the creative process and the road that led him to two published books.
